Information for EU Customers
Following the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union, orders shipped from the UK to EU countries may be subject to additional import charges. Please review the information below before placing an order via thtc.co.uk.
Customs Duty
Standard EU customs duty on clothing is approximately 12%, though this may vary depending on the garment type (e.g. T-shirts, jackets, footwear).
VAT (Value Added Tax)
Regardless of origin, EU VAT is payable on all imports, calculated on:
-
the value of the goods, plus
-
shipping/insurance costs, plus
-
any customs duty.
-
Each EU country charges its own VAT rate, typically 19–25%.
-
Example: Germany = 19%, France = 20%, Sweden = 25%.
Other Charges
-
Customs clearance/handling fees may be added by couriers or postal services (often €5–20 per parcel).
-
If goods are over €150, duties definitely apply; under that, VAT still applies, but duty may be waived.
Practical Example
If a customer in France orders £100 worth of T-shirts (made in Bangladesh, sold via UK):
-
Customs duty: 12% = ~€14
-
VAT: 20% on (£100 + €14 + shipping)
-
Handling fee: €10–20 depending on courier
In this scenario, you could end up paying 30–40% more than the UK sale price.
Recommendation
Please note, we also have the thtc.eu website and would advise you to order from there if you live in the EU.
